So Much, So Much!

41708_001_2 It's been over a month since my last post and there's much to tell.  Personally, I've moved and have been working  with contractors, landscapers, furniture deliveries, etc. not to mention unpacking;  but this is a much better house for me and I'm loving designing and decorating it plus the neighborhood is wonderful.  And, any day I'll be gone for a couple weeks to my daughter's in Portland to help after the birth of my first grandbaby, due yesterday.

Storewise, there's even more going on.  I don't remember when we've gotten so much new fabric in so short a period and it's all fabulous!  Above is fabric by Bigfork Bay Cotton Co., whose patterns we carry - they're those great crow/chicken/rooster wallhangings.

Please mark your calendars for June 25 - 28 - for the Wasatch Front Shop Hop!  This year's theme is "Once Upon a Time" and each shop has adopted a fairy tale and will make a corresponding quilt - the complete pattern for which will be given to each Shop Hop participant.  So, find a gaggle of friends and someone with a car big enough for everyone and set aside a couple days to visit all 15 shops!

The kits for the Autumn Quilt are ready - $110 plus $24 pattern -picture is under Quilts.

" Midwest Modern" by Amy Butler arrived this week - softer than her other collections.

"Rhapsody" is great colors and has a retro feel - altho' lots of these fit right in with other lines.

This is Brookfield Court, designed by our own Dana Baker.  It measures 25" x 38" and we made up kits that cost $35.  It started with a mini pack of 3" squares that Moda sends with our notions orders - I gave one to Dana and she came up with this - and we made it up again in fabrics from Whimsy.

And, here's Phoebe - another pattern from Melly & Me - that darling company in Australia - we got lots of other animals, too - a giraffe, frog, cow and ?  Fish - there's a fish pattern.

And, last but not least, and the earliest to arrive is Ginger Blossom, which we got in March.  Another new group is "Shiki", by Kumiko Sudo, a true pastel group that is so versatile - baby quilts, backgrounds for applique or piecing...but my pictures of it are gross, so I'll try again in my next post.  Pray for Spring.

Hope Springs

Life has been crazy - the store's been busy and my other life has been busy with the move to a different house.  But the thing that's making the biggest impact on me is the weather.  The snow's almost gone.  It was 55 degrees outside when I closed the store at 5:00 today AND it was still daylight.  So instead of working or packing boxes, I drove home, loaded the dogs up and took them for a walk at the park.  I've forgotten this is possible...that the days DO get longer and warmer and snow-less. I feel rejuvenated and the dogs are beside themselves with glee.

Many fun things are happening at the store.  All those orders I placed at the Houston Market in October are showing up.  I love when I open a box and am happy with what's inside.  It does happen that I open one and wonder what I was thinking to have ordered such bizarre stuff...  So, here are pictures of wonderful new fabrics and trims.

Moda_ric_rac This is ric rac made from gathered bias - and it comes as just plain double-fold, bias trim, too.  We have both.

This is Prince Street - made from the City Girl collection by Benartex.  We've kitted it - including pattern and binding, it costs $40.

And these are gorgeous, giant prints -

Ginger Blossom is a wonderful collection from Michael Miller - very retro and in great colors.

And, it appears I didn't take a picture of my new 30's bolts - there are 5 or 6 of them.  I don't really do 30's, but these made me laugh.  They're traditional designs, but HUGE - like Aunt Gracie on steroids.  Come see.

Fall Market in Houston

Welcome to our new blog!  I've procrastinated for 2 years about a website and now, along comes blogging, making my web decisions easy - woo hoo!

Market was great - I brought back at least one of each pattern and most books and notions that I ordered - and they'll be at the store on Halloween.  As always, any fabric I ordered won't be here for months - but it's always like Christmas when they do come in.

I'll take pictures of our new quilts and post them here, again by Halloween - we have four to show you, and three will be kitted.

Happy Quilting and here's to blogging - hope I can figure this out!  Nancy
